Art Aligns With Life

Does Your art reflect your Life? Are you creating this moment in time, your now, in the art you choose to do? I’ve always asked, ‘Where am I at this moment in time?’

When I was teaching high school all those years while raising my daughter as a single parent, I had no energy to find myself, my style, my artistic passion. Majoring in Art Education, I knew every technique from painting and drawing to fiber and ceramics. Art teachers must know it all to adapt to any school curriculum.

I loved all the mediums, all that was available in art. But I needed to find my path. To make my art meaningful to me, I just kept asking/seeking what was in my life today. What do I value? Where’s my purpose in art, and in my life once I left the school system?

This video goes over some of those questions and answers that I found to these thoughts that we all have on the artistic path.

Art reflect my Now Moment in Time

Here are 3 ideas to consider about your art.

#1. Create Art that reflects your life.

Think about your life, and the life you would like it to be. Make a list of your desired life traits, and a second of what you’d like your art to be. See which traits can align across the lists. How can you bring more of what you want in life into the art you make? This can change everything.

#2. Personal Art is Powerful

Aligning your life and your art moves you forward in a clear direction. Art becomes meaningful to you. You rarely wonder what to do next. Art and life become intertwined into a connected, integrated whole.

#3. Choose in mindfulness what you want in Life and Art

Only keep the way you want to feel, the experiences you love in your day, the direction to a life you choose to live. This is a powerful way to live and to create. Your greatest Art Masterpiece is a Life Well Lived.

What can you add to your art today that reflects your Truest Self, your desired life?
